“Winner never quit and quitters never win. Sports do not build character. They reveal it.”
Annual Sports Day is an occasion where students, teachers, and parents come together for a day of competitive sports. It has great importance in the life of students. Through an event like a sports day children get the chance to show leadership, teamwork and communication skills as they interact with other students and face new challenges. So with this positive thought our school DPS-JC organized its most awaited Annual Sports Day on 15th November 2021, with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere. The preparations for this day started weeks before. Most students gave their names for different events. All events had been conducted through virtual mode. The ground was also very particularly laid down; white chalk powder lines were drawn for different events. Victory stand was beautifully decorated to make the victors feel proud of being there after the events. The mega event commenced with the announcement of the arrival of the respected dignitaries: Chief Guest and the Principal of DPS-JC, Mrs. Kalpana Singh and the Head Mistress, Ms. Indrani Sil. The event proceeded further with the flag hosting by the Chief Guest which was followed by March Past led by the students council. The wonderful welcome song was sung by the students and a warm welcome speech given by Head Mistress of DPS-JC, Ms. Indrani Sil. On the auspicious occasion of Annual Sports Day our Chief Guest and Principal of DPS-JC, Mrs. Kalpana Singh motivated and guided the students by saying “Don’t stop until you’re proud”. Towards the end of the program results had been announced by Miss. Vaishali Singh and the certificate were awarded to the students by our Chief Guest . She congratulated the shining stars of DPS-JC as well as the teacher incharges. It was an ecstatic atmosphere as Mrs. Kalpana Singh, Principal announced the name of the winning house i.e. Prithvi House and the trophy was awarded ceremoniously to them. The program was concluded with Vote of Thanks by Mrs. Tabaasum Jamal and followed by the National Anthem. This program was great fun for the students as it was also a good learning experience. Apart from games and sports, students learnt to have a sporting spirit. It is quite evident that every game will have losers and winners. While winners get motivated to work even harder, losers learn to take defeat in the right spirit. Thus, having a sports day in school is the event that everybody looks forward to.
