CHESS COMPETITION (SENIOR) 26th June 2021
“Chess is a war over the board. The object is to crush the opponent’s mind”
Chess has acquired a high reputation as being a means to discipline the mind, because it requires a strong memory and peculiar power of combination. It is also generally believed that skill in playing it affords evidence of a superior intellect.
Chess competition was held on 26th June 2021 for senior boys and girls of classes IX to XII od DPS-JC. All the boys and girls participated enthusiastically in the competition and it was noticed that they took careful moves while playing. Those who become the most renowned players seem to have been endowed with a peculiar intuitive faculty for making the right moves, while at the same time they seem to have possessed very ordinary faculties for other purpose.
This game allows children to practice all the facets of executive functioning and provides a motivation (winning) to engage in all these facets. Therefore children who have difficulty with executive functioning will increase these skills. The winning participants made their houses proud strictly adhered to the proper rules and regulation. Thus, the event was conducted successfully using skill and expertise.
