DISCOVERING ONE SELF

Finding yourself is a lifelong journey of discovery. The horizon of self is always moving and keeps you engaged in the pursuit of evolution by design. The journey of self-discovery refers to a travel or series of events whereby a person attempts to determine how they feel personally about themselves rather than following the opinions of family, friends, neighbourhood or peer pressure. Nothing is more central to this focus of education. Delhi Public School, Janjgir-Champa always experiences a shift in thinking and action around the learning pathways that students are taking; shift that includes moving towards a ‘Students Centric Approach’ to education , where the students step away from their traditional role as recipients of core-subject content and move into the driver’s seat of their quest to become flexible, nimble thinkers and learners in an increasingly complex society. In this series, our students from classes II to XII took part enthusiastically in each and every activities like; Drawing/Painting, Paragraph Writing, Abhivyakti, Group Discussion & PPT Presentation and shared their perspective on various elements of transformation. The goal is to ensure that the learning is more relevant and meaningful in students’ lives. Our students of class II participated in drawing & painting and they performed outstandingly in a chain of events. Other classes like class III performed paragraph writings, class IV & V went through Abhivyakti, class VI to VIII did their PPT Presentation while class IX to XII Participated in Group Discussion. In order to engage in the rigors of these experiences, we also feel that the students should get to know themselves as learners, what their interests are, and what they may want do in their future. Some students want to be a doctor, some want to be a teacher just like their own loving teachers and so on. Through structured ‘Discovering One Self’ opportunities and reflection in the process, students become acquainted with what they learn. This insight allows them to focus on their strengths while adding and monitoring strategies to become better learners. Through this process, we believe that our students will be better prepared to face the challenges and find solutions for real-life problems.
