National Legal services day is an annual event observed in India every year on November 9 to commemorate the establishment of the National Legal Services Authority in 1995.
“Legal services is a fundamental right of all citizens and the District Legal Services Authority is functioning under the aegis of the District and sessions Court to provide free legal advice and assistance to the citizens of the district” These words are spoken by Mr. Gitesh Kumar Kaushik, Civil Judge, District and Sessions Court Janjgir as well as Incharge and Secretary of District Legal Services Authority of District and Sessions Court Janjgir too.
The Legal Literacy Club is run by the District Legal Services Authority in Delhi Public School, Janjgir-Champa. The club members and the students of Class IX reached District and Sessions Court, Janjgir along with in-charge teachers of the club Mrs. Saira Khan, Mr. Prince Rai and Mr. Digambar Sahu. Where Mr. Gitesh Kumar Kaushik, Civil Judge and in-charge District Legal Services Authority met the children and divided them into small groups and sent them to observe the court proceedings, where the children went to the courts of different judges and quenched their curiosity after understanding the law and procedure. The children then visited the video conferencing room and resource room. In the end the students met Mr. Vivek Kumar Tiwari, Family Court Judge who informed the children about the importance and utility of ‘Legal Services Day’ . They also met Mr. Khilavan, Special Judge Champa, Mr. Suresh June First Additional District and Sessions Judge, Special Judge Anti Corruption and Narcotics, Mrs. Pallavi Tiwari, secretary in Second Additional District and Sessions Court, Mr Gitesh Kumar Kaushik, Jitendra Thakur, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Janjgir-Champa, and got specific information about the judicial process.
